Lighting Devices

Classification Paragraph

Lighting is a critical component of today's nocturnal society and as such comes in many flavors to suit the variety of locations where it is needed. Some of the types of lighting devices in popular use today are chandeliers, flashlights, recessed lighting fixtures, and camera flashes. A few of the favorite constituents utilized by today's producers are wood, laminate, plastic, and polished or hammered metal. Lights also require some sort of bulb which may be long and tubular, conventionally shaped, candle flame shaped, or even as tiny as the pin-head L.E.D. In order for the bulb to produce light it must be charged with electricity which can be derived from batteries, a wall outlet, a generator, or possibly a friction crank like those found in emergency flashlights. Lastly, all lighting mechanisms have some sort of control which may be remote, switched, or operated by a local button. Lighting is very important to the world of today and has adapted to suit a variety of needs.

Household Pets

Classification Paragraph

Household pets come in a variety of forms and require different levels of care. Fish are usually quite small, weighing in at just mere ounces – if that! Pet fish are very easy to care for overall; the most important elements of care are feeding and the cleanliness of their ecosystem. Dogs are generally of a more substantial mass, although different breeds vary greatly both in size and appearance – from hairless yip-yaps to the St. Bernard. They are moderately easy to care for with daily food, water, and exercise being the most critical components. The normal bird weighs only a pound or maybe two and comes in a rainbow of colors. Caged birds require probably the greatest care and attention as their immune systems can be quite delicate. Household pets come in many shapes and sizes and bring with them various levels of responsibility for the owners.

Unique Trees

Classification Paragraph

While there are many common trees in the world, there are also trees that stand out from the rest due to their unique features. For example, a Giant Sequoia by the name of General Sherman is currently the largest tree in the world weighing in at over 6,000 tons. The Circus Trees of bean farmer Axel Erlandson are probably the oddest looking trees because he shaped them into baskets, arches, ladders, and more! Something like the Tree of Tenere can also stick out (pardon the pun) because of its location in the Sahara over 250 miles from a fellow tree. After bing hollowed out by a lightning strike, the Chene-Chapelle (Chapel-Oak) of Allouville-Bellefosse, France was converted into a chapel! A bristle-cone pine tree in the mountains of California, named Methuselah, is the oldest living tree known to man at 4,838 years old. Every tree has a story to tell, but some contain more captivating narratives than others.

Board Games

Classification Paragraph

Throughout the ages, mankind has passed time by playing board games which utilize both reason and/or “chance”. Snakes & Ladders relies entirely on the roll of dice for its outcome and does not necessitate any higher level theory. Parcheesi also utilizes two dice, but it includes an element of strategy when opposed to Snakes & Ladders. Backgammon relies primarily on reason, but dice – which bring an aspect of “chance” – play an important role in the game. Checkers, though simple to grasp, is totally reliant on each player's logic powers. Chess is the board game most dependent on both players' IQ and allows for multi-level, multi-turn strategies. Each of these games has various levels of theory and/or “fate” and has survived centuries of use.
